Daugavpils is a city in southeastern Latvia, located on the banks of the Daugava River, from which the city gets its name. Daugavpils has a population of 94,196 inhabitants and it was the capital of Polish Livonia while in Poland. Daugavpils is exceptionally rich in red brick buildings. This style was developed by many outstanding architects such as Wilhelm Neumann, the chief architect of the city by the end of 19th century.
