Municipality of Bologna

Bologna is the local capital city and largest one of Emilia-Romagna region. It is located in northern Italy with a population that exceeds one million inhabitants. It was first settled around 1000 BC and before falling into Roman hands, it was conquered by Etruscans. It is the home of the oldest university in continuous operation in the world, while in 2000 it was declared the European capital of culture and six years later as UNESCO “City of Music”.
