Liège is a Belgian city located in the French-speaking region of the country called Wallonia and it has a population of roughly 200.000 inhabitants. Its name comes from the Germanic word liudik, which means “people”. In the past this city was renowned for its steel-making industry, being also one of the most important industrial centres in Europe. Liege is also popular for its crowded folk festivals and vibrant cultural life.
