Municipality of Pavlos Melas

Municipality of Pavlos Melas is located in the regional unit of Thessaloniki in Central Macedonia (Greece) with its almost 100.000 inhabitants. Its name derives from an officer of the Hellenic Army back in 19th century, who was among the first ones to organize and participate to the Greek Struggle for Macedonia. Additionally, in this area Lazaristes Monastery can be found. Built in 1861 by the monks of the Order of St. Vincent of Paul, it hosts nowadays the State Museum of Contemporary Art.
