Ravenna is a provincial capital city in Emilia-Romagna region (Italy), with a population of roughly 160.000 inhabitants. During the 5th century AD, Ravenna used to be the capital city of the Western Roman Empire and later passed under the control of the Ostrogoths, Byzantines and Lombards. Ravenna hosts 8 UNESCO World Heritage buildings and has been ranked as one of the best cities in terms of quality of life in Italy.
