ACE-BAK Workshop “Architecture: Towards a Step Change in Building Performance”, 22 June 2017
In the framework of the EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW), ABRACADABRA project partner the Architects’ Council of Europe (ACE) organised two public events on 22 June on the theme “Architecture: Towards a Step Change in Building Performance” together with the Federal Chamber of German Architects (BAK).
In the context of the on-going revision of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), the objective was to share feedback from architectural projects that have successfully overcome the challenges of achieving healthy, comfortable and productive environments at measurably low energy and resource consumption. Both events have enabled to debate and shed light on the architectural determinants of building performance, the role of architecture in creating a step-change in the uptake of energy efficiency measures and the imperative to consider building performance in a broader and more holistic perspective.
The afternoon, Workshop took place at the Architects’ House. Following a presentation of the Clean Energy Package by a representative from DG Energy, several architects and experts gave presentations on the architectural determinants of building performance, the importance of the validation of the operational performance of building, the embodied energy, the life cycle assessment, the value of design and innovative financing solutions for the renovation of the building stock.
ABRACADABRA project partner Energy Pro was represented by Matt Pumfrey, who spoke about the financial toolkit of the H2020 project.
All speakers’ presentations are available in the Events section of the website. The video recordings will be soon available on the ACE Youtube channel (Workshop).
